Did you know? Alumni is the plural form of alumnus, roughly meaning 'former student'. A woman is an alumna, a group of women are alumnae. Meanwhile a man is an alumnus, and a group of men (or men and women) are alumni.

Can you help the new students starting in just a few weeks at Cardiff University? You have had a lot of time to get used to university and city life, and your advice might really help someone arriving for the first time.

We want to quote as many of you as possible (anonymously if you choose) in a new guide which will be given out in Fresher's week with your top tips for new students about:Cardiff University USB stick

• Top places to go in the university or city?
• Best ways to make friends?
• Things to buy for your new room?
• Budgeting and money-saving tips?
• Favourite clubs, societies, sports?
• Anything else which could make a difference?

Thank you in advance to everyone who replies on behalf of those starting their studies in 2013. We will post an exclusive Cardiff University USB wallet card (pictured above) to 20 random respondents who reply before August 31st.

Please fill in your answers online or email alumni@cardiff.ac.uk
