Dear alumni volunteers
Re: Cardiff Alumni Mentoring
Many thanks for expressing your interest in volunteering for the new Cardiff Alumni Mentoring Programme being established to help current Cardiff University students who are planning their future careers.
Further to our email to you before Christmas, we have now put together guidelines for both volunteer mentors and student mentees. We already have over 100 students wishing to be mentored by alumni, and we now need to begin the process of matching those students with alumni mentoring volunteers.
Matching will take place immediately after the Easter holiday period, with a view to mentoring partnerships and introductions beginning by the end of April.
We really value your interest in this project, and hope very much that once you have read the attached guidelines for mentors you will now wish to commit to the scheme over the next year. This first year is a pilot and we will be glad to receive your feedback - positive and negative - throughout the process.
What do we need from you?
If you are happy to be matched with a student this year, please send us a copy of your CV, or alternatively an email outlining details of your current position and organisation, your professional experience and the areas you think you could best help a student with.
It would be really helpful to us if you are able to send us this information by Thursday 28th March - and this will enable us to carefully consider every mentor and student profile and put together the first student-alumni matches after Easter.
Many thanks again for your enthusiasm in helping us get this really important initiative off the ground.
We know that both students and alumni at established mentoring programmes worldwide gain a huge amount from participating in similar schemes - and we look forward to your involvement in Cardiff University's Alumni Mentoring Programme.
With my very best wishes and thanks for your support.
