Merry Christmas

I want to thank you for your kind donations towards my scholarship I have received from Cardiff University – I am very grateful and it is a huge help!

Studying at Cardiff University is exactly how I expected it to be! I love being a student here, my course is going really well and I am enjoying it. The lectures are all helpful and so passionate about their subjects it makes the lectures enjoyable and interesting.

The support the university offers to students is great and has helped me settle in well, very quickly. The Students Union always has something on and I love being able to relax in the Taff with some friends after lectures.

Aside from the studying and hard work; the city is great place to be. There is always something fun to do with friends and the atmosphere on international days is unbelievable and exciting.

I really am looking forward to my next four years here at Cardiff and every opportunity that comes with it.

I wish to thank you again for your donation and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thank you,
Sophie Cox

AdaMerry Christmas

I want to wish all the scholarship and bursary donors a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year full of joy and happiness. My time at Cardiff University has so far been a great experience where I’ve gained new friends and a keen interest in my degree. As a European student I was a bit nervous to start a new chapter in a foreign city. Cardiff is however a perfect place for students to enjoy themselves to the fullest for the next three years.

I’m finding my course really interesting and I have definitely found the ideal route to guide me towards my future career. Thank you very much for all your donations for us students at Cardiff University. You do really make a difference in this time of our lives when we all need to shape our own future through hard work and determination.

(First year, BSc Exploration and Resource Geology)

ElinThank you

My name is Elin Dyer. I am in my second year, studying for a BA in French and Italian. This is a fantastic course, and with great help from the teaching staff, I have vastly improved my linguistic skills. I am also really enjoying studying the culture and history of the countries. I will be spending next year in France and Italy as an Erasmus Student. I am especially looking forward to this part of my course, as having heard others’ experiences, I know that it will help to develop my speaking skills further, and give me lots of unforgettable memories.

I am originally from Pontypridd, so although I know Cardiff very well, being a student at Cardiff Uni has certainly taught me much more about the city! What I love about Cardiff is that it is such a sociable city and there is always something to do. I am really enjoying my time at Cardiff University. It is so great to meet people on the same course who share my interests and goals. Outside of my course, I am a member of several societies, where I have made friends that I know I will have for life.

Thank you so much for your donation. I am extremely grateful for your kindness. The extra money has made such a difference and has allowed me to buy books and extra materials for my course, without worrying. I know that it will continue to be very useful, particularly when I go abroad next year.

Thank you once again for your generosity. With best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,

Elin Dyer
(Second year, French and Italian)

KateDear All

First, I’d like to say MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I hope you have a fabulous winter holiday with all the trimmings. Second, I’d like to express how thankful I am to all of you who donate to the university in order for them to award scholarships and bursaries to people like me. So, here’s a huge THANK YOU!!

Cardiff is a city that you just naturally feel at home in. It may rain, a lot, but that never takes away from the fact that people just love being here. I believe the university plays a massive part in giving Cardiff this amazing atmosphere and your donations play a huge part in making the university the success that it is.

I am currently in the second year of a four year masters course in Chemistry, last year I received an overall average of a first. I can undoubtedly say that the money I received as part of my scholarship helped me to achieve this, and I would only assume it had the same impact on many others from across the university. I hope to maintain this grade and know that the money I receive over the coming years due to your generosity will allow me to equip myself sufficiently as to enable me to continue to aim higher and higher.

Once again thank you so so much for all that you give, it really does make a difference.

(Second year, Chemistry)

Ryan DaviesMerry Christmas Cardiff University scholarship and bursary donors!

My name is Ryan Davies, and I am in my third year of study toward a Masters degree in Chemistry here at Cardiff. I hope I can convince you that your donations were worthwhile!

Many students, like myself, have relied heavily on the important funding received from scholarship payments in order to afford extra books to get those top marks in university assignments. I come from a purely working class background, so previously, all the money I was able to get to spend on my academic needs through college was solely from working part time in both retail and fast food restaurants, where I would work upwards of 16 hours per week and spend the majority of my salary on biology and chemistry tuition.

It’s also the recognition aspect that I believe is very important for students who have worked very hard, perhaps against all odds, to achieve their grades. It was an honor to have had my photo taken with the school of chemistry in recognition of my scholarship award, and I’m sure many others would have felt the same. I achieved a D grade in chemistry in my first year of college, barely passing, and now I'm here, having achieved three A grades, studying for a master’s degree in the subject.

Thank you very much for your kind donations.

Ryan Davies
(Third year, MA Chemistry)

Firstly I would like to say Merry Christmas and secondly Thank You.

The scholarship I get has helped me fund the amazing year I am having. I am currently at the University of Wyoming in the USA on my study abroad year which has so far been one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. So thank you for the donations which have helped me to get here!

Best wishes,
(MeSci Geology International)

Merry Christmas!

I really enjoy studying Zoology at Cardiff and I would like to thank you for your donation. It makes a big difference to me because it means that I can focus on my studies without needing to try to hold down a job at the same time. I really appreciate your kindness,

(Final year, Zoology)

Merry Christmas! Thank you very much for your donation to the bursary and scholarship schemes at Cardiff University. I’m enjoying my second year here - Cardiff is a great city which always has something going on and it really feels like home. I’m finding my course particularly interesting and the term has flown by so far, with all the opportunities the University and Union provide which I’ve got involved with like the volleyball club, the student mentoring scheme and Engineers Without Borders society. Thank you again and have a happy new year in 2014!

(Second year, Medical Engineering MEng)

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

I just wanted to say a massive thanks for the scholarship I have received since starting university. It really has helped a lot. Cardiff University is a great uni and the school of computer science where I study is fantastic. Help is available where needed and their labs are brilliant to push through the mounds of coursework. As I am studying in my final year, I can say the contribution from the scholarship has been really helpful, mostly for the new laptop I was able to purchase that has been used so much during this course!

Thanks so much,

Lauren Barry
(Third year, Business Information Systems)

Merry Christmas!

Thank you very much for the scholarship! I am enjoying being in Cardiff very much, and I am finding my course really interesting! My dissertation deadline is looming so the long hours in the library are starting, it will hopefully all be worth it in the end though!

Thank you once again and enjoy the holidays!

Merry Christmas!

Thank you very much for your donations, they have really helped me a lot.

I am now a student at Cardiff University and I'm very glad that I have chosen here.

I have found out how pleasant the city is and its people are mostly very nice.

Thank you again.

From SY

Thank you so much for your kind donation, which has allowed people like me to have a far better experience at Cardiff University. I have spent two brilliant years there, and am currently on an exchange year in Australia which would have not been possible without the scholarship. The award has opened a lot of doors for me and I am very grateful! Have a very Happy Christmas!

(Third year, Exploration and Resource Geology MESci)

Dear Cardiff University Scholarship and Bursaries Donors,

First of all I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the upcoming year.

I was fortunate enough to receive an engineering scholarship when I joined Cardiff University to study Medical Engineering in 2010 and I would like to thank you very much for providing the funding for this. From my personal experience the scholarship has always provided a great deal of motivation for my work and where some students may choose to get a job whilst studying at university, the funding has allowed me to focus on my degree completely. Despite engineering being quite a male dominated discipline I think Cardiff Uni have done a great job in encouraging more girls to study the subject.

I am now in my third year of studies and last year I undertook a year in industry placement working as a NPD Engineer at a medical company in Swansea which was a great experience. In my first two years of university I achieved first class averages across my modules and I hope I can continue the same level of work through my final year, and potentially even on to a masters (I haven't decided yet!).

Again many thanks, and a happy new year.

(Third year, Medical Engineering)

Hello, I just want to say have a great christmas and thank you!

Your donation has helped me and others I've spoke to a great deal since joining Cardiff University. I'm able to enjoy what Cardiff has to offer and this has been a massive help in settling in here. Purchasing a bike has made my life a lot easier too! Getting to lectures and back was a nightmare at first. I am studying first year Business Information Systems and I'm getting on well so far and I hope to continue this way. Thanks again.

(First year, Business Information Systems)

Dear donors

I am writing to thank you for the donation you made.

Currently I study first year Exploration and Resource Geology and I am finding the course as enjoyable as it is interesting.

I thoroughly enjoy my new independent student life in Cardiff. Cardiff is the perfect example of a modern city which holds a vast amount of opportunities for students. I cannot fault the university and can honestly say I've made the best decision by coming to Cardiff.

The Scholarship I have received has helped me greatly in student life and I am extremely thankful for the donation you made. Whether the money go to wise or spontaneous investments, I am very grateful for it.

I wish you all the best and wish you a happy, safe and enjoyable seasonal celebrations.

Many thanks,

(First year, Exploration and Resource Geology)

Dear Sir/Madam

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for donating towards my scholarship scheme!

I am currently in my final (4th) year of studying BSc Zoology and although it is a tough year I am really enjoying my course. The scholarship scheme has really helped take a weight off my shoulders. My student loan is far too little to cover the costs of accommodation (never mind living expenses!) and so it is a great relief to know I have a bit of a helping hand financially.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Many, many thanks again.

Kate Dickson
(Fourth year, Zoology)

Merry Christmas

I am a recipient of the Cardiff University scholarship scheme. I am a second year Chemistry student and I am writing out of appreciation of the scheme.

Cardiff University is a great place to study because the University gets the most out of you. Academic staff are always helpful and the facilities provided are very good. Cardiff itself is a fun and vibrant city. From rugby to castles there are plenty of things to do and the nightlife is second to none.

So thank you for the donation as it makes it possible to get the most out of my experience here at Cardiff.

(Second year, Chemistry)

Thank you very much for your donation towards the Cardiff University scholarship scheme.

The course, university and city are fantastic. Have a lovely Christmas, full of food, family and friends!

(Third year Medical Engineer, currently out on a year in industry)

Dear scholarship and bursary donors,

I'd just like to say thank you for the generous scholarship and bursary donations to Cardiff University students. They have made a big difference to my time studying and have assisted with costs such as books and fees, including during my year abroad in Granada.

As a BA Italian and Spanish student, my time at Cardiff so far has been fantastic. The lecturers in EUROP are always keen to help and go out of their way to help you reach your potential. The city itself is incredibly friendly and vibrant.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my course so far and after two years in Cardiff, I am currently in my third year abroad, spending the first semester in Granada before moving to Pisa in February for my second semester, and eventually returning to Cardiff in September for my final year.

Many thanks again for your generous donations that have made a difference to so many students, and a Merry Christmas.

(Third year, Italian and Spanish)

Season’s greetings!

I’m loving my first year at Cardiff so far! I’m really pleased with where my accommodation is situated- I’m right next to the gym and swimming pool and only a 15 minute walk from the university. The sports facilities are very impressive and I know I’ll be able to find any piece of information I need at any of the libraries. My course has enabled me to do a language as an additional subject which I’m enjoying getting my teeth into despite it being a lot of extra work. My main subject is really stimulating too. I had not expected to learn so much about topics such as politics as we have - it's all very new and exciting!

Thank you so much for your donation contributing to my studies. I’m finding university such a positive experience, but it is very difficult for me to finance; my bursary has really encouraged me to make the most of my time at Cardiff and your generous help is most appreciated!

Kind regards,
Britta Zeltmann

Dear donor,

I would like to express my most sincere thanks for your generosity in contributing towards the scholarship. I am currently in my final year of a degree in Modern Foreign Languages and extremely fortunate to be a recipient of this scheme for which I am most grateful.

On a personal level, the scheme has not only been of huge benefit to me financially but I feel that it has motivated and inspired me.

It is through your support that I have been able to purchase a variety of items which have been hugely beneficial for my educational and personal development. For example, I have been able to purchase an iPad which will allow me to participate in a new initiative at Cardiff University where I use Skype to talk to students at Parma University in Italy. This will be of enormous benefit to my language skills and will result in an additional qualification.

Thank you seems extremely inadequate but I truly am grateful for your support. Please be assured it is being spent wisely and contributed immensely to further my educational development.

Wishing you a very happy Christmas and best wishes for 2014.

Rebecca Williams
(Final year, Modern Languages)

To all Scholarship and Bursary donors,

As a recipient of a Scholarship here at Cardiff University, I would like to give a big thank you to all donors for your financial support during my studies at Cardiff University. I’m sure the financial support has helped many students here, including myself, to purchase textbooks and ease the costs of accommodation. I’m currently in Year 2 studying Physics (BSc) and can’t wait to graduate.

I wish a merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to all the Scholarship and Bursary donors,

Procopios Constantinou
(Second year, Physics)

Dear all

Since moving to Cardiff this September, I already feel at home and really like the city. My course is fantastic and I’m really enjoying all my lectures. It’s a massive change being taught by lecturers who are researching the same topics they’re teaching you. I have already made some strong friendships and am enjoying being a part of union’s societies. Thank you very much for the donation, it is already making a big difference to my time at Cardiff University.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

(First year, Zoology)

Merry Christmas and thank you for the donation towards my scholarship.

Cardiff University is providing me with a very interesting course and a brilliant variety of clubs and societies. I would really recommend anyone to come and study here, it is such a fantastic experience!

Seasons greetings from South Australia!

After two fantastic years of undertaking my Zoology BSc in Cardiff I've taken the opportunity to undertake a Professional Training Year! Leaving the festive and friendly streets of Cardiff I'm working with a PhD student in Flinders university, Adelaide on a dream project studying bottlenose dolphins. I'm having the time of my life and couldn't have done it without your donations to the scholarship scheme so I can't thank you enough! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!

Thanks again,

Edward Dyer
(Third year, Zoology, PTY Placement)

Thank you

When I started in Cardiff University in Autumn 2011 to study Chemistry, I was concerned with the financial aspect of both my course and living arrangements. But when I found out I was to receive £3000 over the course of my degree, a weight was taken off my shoulders.

In my first year the scholarship was particularly telling, as it helped enormously from an academic viewpoint, helping pay the cost of things like a new laboratory coat, lab journal and a molecular modelling kit. I also used it towards purchasing textbooks for all aspects of the course, which have helped me since, and continue to. As I was still finding my feet living from home, the scholarship also allowed me to buy household items that I'd need for my halls of residence, and while being able to pay off a significant amount of the rent for the accommodation too.

I definitely made the right choice in coming to Cardiff, as the course is challenging, but it is tried and tested. And along with the ever helpful and understanding university staff, and fellow friendly students, I continue to thrive and enjoy myself, both academically and socially - the city is vibrant, varied and there's always something to do or see.

None of this would have been possible without generous and selfless donations to Cardiff University for schemes like this. So thank you ever so much, for bringing a richer experience to my university life.

Merry Christmas,

Roderick Stark
(Third year, Chemistry)

Dear bursary and scholarship donorss

I'm really enjoying Cardiff Uni life so far. The city is lovely and the Christmas lights have made it even better!

I am studying Computer Science and really like my course so far. I have made some great friends and the course is so interesting and engaging.

Thank you very much for your donation towards my scholarship; it has made student life a lot better.

I hope to do well and thrive in my course during the next 3 years.

Merry Christmas! Hope you have a good holiday.

Yours faithfully,
Jemma Pitt

Dear Sir/Madam

It is a great pleasure to be able to wish Christmas Greetings to you all after my first term at Cardiff University.

I am so grateful that I was selected to receive a Scholarship to assist me in my studies in Chemistry.

When I first visited Cardiff I knew right from the beginning that it was a University that I would feel happy safe and secure in, the friendly atmosphere and the warm welcome that I received from Tutors and students alike made me realise that Cardiff University was where I would like to study my Master’s Degree in Chemistry.

The Lecturers have welcomed us all in to a strange and exciting environment, coming from a sixth form school into an adult world can be fearful but at Cardiff University I was made to feel welcome and valued.

I have chosen not to live on campus as I am very fortunate to have good family support to enable me to continue living at home in the beautiful Forest of Dean.

Commuting into Cardiff has again proved to be an adventure, concerns were voiced about my ability to be able to do the immense amount of work required of this course whilst commuting. However, I have been able to focus my attention and have a good study routine once at home.

To receive a Cardiff Scholarship is truly prestigious and I cannot thank you enough for selecting me.

Once again, Christmas Greetings and a Happy New Year,

Yours faithfully,

Danielle Merrikin

I would like to thank you all for your extraordinary generosity in donating to the Cardiff University scholarship system.

I would also like to extend to you a very Merry Christmas and happy new year. My first few weeks at Cardiff university have been more enjoyable than I could have imagined and Cardiff is a brilliant city with everything I could need. Rugby international match days are a personal highlight! My course, Computer Science, is proving enjoyable and challenging and I am certainly looking forward to see how it will develop throughout my years at university.

Again, I would like to thank you immensely for you kindness in donating as it helped me out and I imagine it will also help many other students in a similar position to me.

Richard Saunders
(First year, Computer Science)

Merry Christmas to all of the scholarship and bursary donors for 2013!

Cardiff University already feels like a second home to me, despite the fact that I have only been studying there for about two months. The place has an aura of warmth and pride, and this is highlighted by the generosity shown from you graduates and friends of the University who choose to donate and support students, such as myself, while we aim to better ourselves and succeed in our respective fields. I am truly grateful for the support that you have given me and others like me, as University life can be stressful enough before finances even come into play!

I am a first year Computer Science student and also a commuter, so I take the train 4-5 days a week (depending on the module) from Hereford to Cardiff, and back again. The extra funding I received enables me to do this, as my train fares alone cost me around £66 a week, so I am grateful for this because I feel that I am able to focus on my course properly at university while also getting extra work done in my own environment, where I can concentrate without interruption.

I was a bit concerned with the course content before I started, but the introductory module went really well and now I'm working through Web Applications and Problem Solving With Python. I did a fair bit of HTML and CSS in my BTEC for Level 3, so it's just a matter of adding that knowledge to the PHP and MySQL that I'm being taught now. I haven't yet been given the actual project for Web Applications so wish me luck! Problem Solving With Python is a challenge I was not expecting, if I'm honest. The actual Python programming sessions have been easy to understand and the weekly puzzles are rewarding when I get them working. The maths is the challenging part; I can't remember the last time I sat at a desk and just went over mathematical equations again and again!

I'm very much enjoying this experience, and I believe it will only get better. Your generosity has helped me and will continue to do so until I finally achieve my goal of earning this degree.

May you and your families have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year.

Thank you.

Chris Pinnell
(First year, Computer Science)

Seasons greetings!

This is a short thanks for the donations towards the scholarships here at Cardiff University. So far my time here has been incredible.

My course is really interesting along with the field trips which are really fun but also teach me a lot. I've met a load of great people doing my course as well as others doing different and overall I feel I'm settling in really well. Also, I didn't realise how great the city actually was and I only live 20 or so minutes away! I feel safe on nights out and also love spending time in the small arcades where I can get work done whilst having a coffee on a comfy sofa.

Again, thanks for the donations as I now have a little less to worry about financially and I can focus on my studies,

Merry Christmas

I would like to extend a very warm seasons greeting this Christmas to all the donors of the Cardiff University scholarships and bursaries which have benefited many students, including myself. I chose Cardiff University because of the high quality of teaching and facilities available, and the fact the University is located in a dynamic, vibrant and friendly city. The existence of a scholarship for microbiology was an additional, and highly valued, benefit of studying at Cardiff, as well as an additional incentive to achieve high grades at A-level.

The microbiology degree scheme has presented me with numerous challenges that require the development of new skills each term, and has enabled me to explore the subject in a supportive and interactive environment. I hope to continue developing my knowledge, and achieve future success at Cardiff University in the field of microbiology. I’d like to thank the donors of Cardiff University for their funding of scholarships and bursaries which support the progress of many students through their studies.

Alex J Mullins
(Third year, Microbiology)

Thank you so much for you kind donations towards the Cardiff scholarships.

I am really enjoying Cardiff University and the microbiology course so far, the lectures are interesting and we have had some great practical classes including one on aseptic technique. I am planning on using some of my scholarship money towards doing voluntary work abroad next summer, hopefully involving wildlife or environmental conservation work.

I hope you are all well and I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Many thanks,
(First year, Microbiology)

Thank you very much for the scholarship bursary.

The money has enabled me to concentrate on my studies without having to worry about living expenses. I intend to continue to put 100% commitment into my work to gain the best marks that I can.

Thank you again and Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.

(First year, Astrophysics)

Season's Greetings!

Thank you so much for your kind donations towards additional scholarships and bursaries for Cardiff University students, such as myself. It really does make a huge difference, allowing for textbooks to be bought which otherwise would not have been, as well as going towards kit and training sessions for my sports societies; netball, squash and dance. I am in my second year at Cardiff studying Physics with Medical Physics and thoroughly enjoying my work, even when it is a bit more challenging! I also love being in Cardiff, especially at this time of year with the markets and "Winter Wonderland" set up!

Thank you again, and Merry Christmas!

Jo Wilson
(Second year, Chemistry)

Merry Christmas!

I would like to start by saying a massive thank you for the donation that supports our bursaries and scholarships. These are extremely helpful in many aspects, and have personally covered what my loans could not in educational supplies (text books especially) and travel.

Cardiff University is an absolute fantastic place to be studying; the members of staff that I have encountered are all wonderfully helpful. Though the work load of the degree is a thing to be reckoned with, the way that Cardiff delivers their top material is amazing. On top of this all, it’s located in the most spectacular city I’ve ever been to. The Winter Wonderland scene during Christmas time is great fun, and Cardiff makes a brilliant place for Christmas shopping.

I am currently in my 2nd year of a Physics Masters and am coping well. However it has been discovered that the Physics department takes away most of a social life, yet I have made many friends over the last year and a bit, and would not forsake this opportunity for anything.

Thank you once again for your donation,

Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year,

Matthew Mostert
(Second year, Physics MA)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I would just like to thank everyone who donated to Cardiff University so that students like me can have scholarships and bursaries.

I'm a first year studying Bioscience (Zoology) and I'm really enjoying university life so far. Cardiff is such a beautiful city with many friendly people and it very much seems like home now. At Cardiff Uni everything is organised, everyone nice and helpful so I definitely always feel like I belong. My course is really interesting and the lecturers enthusiastic so I've not missed a lecture yet and I don't plan to for the next 3 years!

My scholarship makes me feel truly supported, and it motivates me to keep doing well and do even better in the future too - so thank you very, very much.

(First year, Zoology)

Dear scholarship and bursary donors

Merry Christmas! Thank you so much for your donation. I'm loving university life here at Cardiff. The facilities are excellent and the city as a whole has a vibrant and unique atmosphere. I am currently in my first year at Cardiff university and I'm studying Chemistry, which is both challenging and exciting.

Once again thank you for your donation.

A world of good wishes.

One of the real joys this Christmas is the opportunity to say thank you and wish you the very best for the new year!

I am currently studying Computer Science with an emphasis in security and forensics. I chose Cardiff because of its reputation and the experience I had on the open day speaking to the lecturers and touring the university. As I already lived fairly close to Cardiff, I was well acquainted with what the city could offer and I was more than happy to move here to study for the next 3 years.

I have loved my time at Cardiff University so far and have taken advantage of every opportunity it has to offer. As well as my studies, I have been heavily involved in extracurricular activities. I am a current candidate of the Cardiff Award and have also taken on the position of the President of the Computer Science and Informatics society.

I attained a 1st in my first year of my degree and I intend on maintaining this record and go on to complete an industrial placement next year. After my degree, my goal is to work in software engineering. Thanks to you, I am one step closer to that goal. The financial assistance you have provided is of great help to me in paying my educational expenses, and it allows me to concentrate more of my time for studying to attain my goals.

Once again, thank you for your generosity and support. I promise you I will work very hard and I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.

Matthew Rhys Jones
(Second year, Computer Science with Security and Forensics)

Dear Sir/Madam,

As a first year student, I needed all of the support I could get for academic resources and travelling fees, and the scholarship has been a great help for giving me the best start in this year.

Thank you all very much for your generosity and thought, and I wish you a merry Christmas.

Happy Christmas!!

I’m just writing thank you for being a scholarship donor for Cardiff University. I’m currently in my third and final year at Cardiff University and have had an amazing time so far, it’s going to be tough to leave!! Cardiff has been a great place to do my degree and I’d pick it again if I had the choice, both the city and University are fantastic.

My course (Computer Science) has covered a broad range of topics which has helped me realize what parts of computing I like and what parts I do not which has helped me decide on what I want to do as a graduate. Once again massive thanks for the donation, it’s been a massive help throughout university and a great motivation boost.

Adam B
(Third year, Computer Science)

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Thank you for your donation. It goes a long way to help encourage us to succeed in university and focus on our future careers, and most importantly it allows us to fulfil our aspirations.

(Second year, Chemistry)

Thank you and Merry Christmas

I am a student in Year 2 of an MPhys Physics and Astronomy course at Cardiff University and I'm really enjoying my time here. My course is challenging and interesting and I love the friendly atmosphere of the university and the city itself.

The scholarship I have been given has helped immensely, taking away some of the financial pressure of moving to university and allowing me to enjoy my time more.

It has been a great help, and I would like to thank all of the donors who help keep the scholarship and bursary schemes going, and also to wish you a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

(Second year, Physics and Astronomy)

Thank you

I am currently in my second year studying zoology. I love being in Cardiff as living in a city is quite different to the town I grew up in and also because of all of the Doctor Who related things (as I absolutely love Doctor Who). I'm really enjoying my course; the combination of lectures and practical lab work.

I'm very happy to have been given this opportunity to thank you for your donation. I am very grateful for the Scholarship and it has been a great help to me during my time in Cardiff - so thank you.

Merry Christmas, KH
(Second year, Zoology)

I couldn't have done this without your donations

My name is Jennifer Ferguson and I am currently in my first year of Medicine here at Cardiff. However I received several scholarships during my first degree here (Chemistry) which enabled me to start Medicine.

I would really like to thank you and other donors for your generous gifts. It has been such a huge help to me and I am extremely grateful.

I love being a part of Cardiff University and am very happy to be able to continue my studies here, I could not have done this without your donations.

Thank- you very much and Happy Christmas!

Jennifer Ferguson

I am writing to you to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I am now in my second year studying Zoology and I am loving every minute of it so far. Choosing to come to Cardiff University was one of the best choices I have made. It has great opportunities, fantastic facilities and a vibrant social atmosphere. The city is also brilliant, being small enough that everything is accessible but big enough to have everything you could possibly need. I love the night life here and all the different things to do. But my favourite thing about Cardiff as a city is its green open spaces which I love to walk in, especially this time of year.

My course is going well and I am really enjoying second year now that my modules are more animal based. The workload is a huge step-up from last year but I enjoy a challenge! I am also looking forward to my field course to Borneo at the end of the year that would not be possible were it not for your kind donation into the scholarship scheme.

Which leaves me to say thank you so much for your donation: it is making a big difference to the opportunities available to me, both in terms of my course and my life in general. I hope to go on to do research and conservation work when I graduate, particularly on primates, and so the money I have received from the scholarship will greatly enhance my chances of fulfilling this ambition.

Thank you!
(Second year, Zoology)
